Designing Medical Devices for a Global Marketplace

Success in today’s business environment means designing products from a global perspective.  Medical devices, both hardware and software, are highly controlled by various regulatory agencies.  Such regulatory environments differ based on target markets and this directly impacts product design.  An understanding of the collaborative design nature and communication needed by various departments within an organization will greatly contribute to overall product and company success.  Such collaborations will be discussed within the framework of regulatory umbrellas.

Dr. Bonato has worked in numerous capacities within the medical devices industry, sleep disorders medicine, and sleep research fields during the past 27 years. During his career with Nellcor Puritan Bennett, Dr. Bonato was heavily involved in numerous marketing, budgetary, product and business development, and product road-map capacities in sleep disorders medicine. He has taught university courses on Sleeping and Dreaming, has been on the executive committee of the Canadian Sleep Society, has authored and co-authored numerous articles in sleep journals and related publicaions, has been an invited reviewer for the Scientific Journal Sleep, and has directed a sleep disorders laboratory.
